If there’s one thing I know is that music brings people together. People from any and everywhere will come together for multiple reasons to share time and space with each other when there’s good music. Music not only brings together its listeners but also its creators. Jay-Z and Kanye West’s new album “Watch the Throne” might be the most highly anticipated musical collaboration in Hip-Hop that actually came to fruition (we all wanted that Commission album right). Earlier this week, Jay-Z and Kanye had a listening session for their album in New York’s Hayden Planetarium and all those not fortunate enough to be there had to read about it from different sources. The consensus is that it was a great album and an even better experience. I read this article in my cubicle yesterday and thought to myself how cool it would be to get together with some friends and listen to the album at ridiculously loud levels and participate in hip-hop history. We may not have the planetarium to take us on a space ride but that doesn’t mean we can’t take our own musical journey. So at the spur of the moment I made some phone calls and just like that… a Watch the Throne listening event is now available for all the Jay-Z and Kanye West fans (and haters) in Baltimore City. (Baby I’m magic TAH DAH!)
“Watch the Throne” is available digitally Monday August 8th via iTunes and I plan to share my copy with everyone who may or may not have ordered it at Select Lounge from 6-9pm. It’ll be a really cool laid back, happy hour kind of vibe. Of course, there will be plenty of spirits available courtesy of Select’s exceptional service.
