• ROTATING RELATED ARTS

    Each rotation lasts 7 weeks and serves to expose students to a variety of subject areas. 
     
    Art:

    Middle school art classes empower students to unleash their artistic potential. Through hands-on projects and guidance from teachers, they experiment with different mediums, from paints to clay, enhancing their skills and imaginative thinking. These classes cultivate an appreciation for art, helping students understand its role in society and sparking a lifelong connection to creative expression.
     
    Computer Science:

    A middle school computer science course introduces students to the fundamental concepts of programming and computational thinking. Students learn programming languages such as Scratch or Python to create simple programs and games. They explore topics like algorithms, data structures, and problem-solving techniques. The course also emphasizes digital citizenship, online safety, and ethical considerations in technology.
     
    Health:

    Middle school health class is a vital component of a well-rounded education, focusing on promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Students learn about important topics such as nutrition, exercise, personal hygiene, and the effects of drugs and alcohol. Through interactive discussions and activities, they develop essential life skills and knowledge to make informed decisions that positively impact their overall health and wellness. 
     
    Spanish Flex:

    A middle school Spanish exploratory class is an introductory course that exposes students to the basics of the Spanish language and culture. Students learn fundamental vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation through interactive activities and exercises. The class aims to develop basic communication skills, such as introducing oneself, asking and answering simple questions, and engaging in basic conversations. Additionally, cultural aspects of Spanish-speaking countries are explored to foster a broader understanding and appreciation of the language.
     
    STEM:

    STEM is focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education. It aims to provide students with a hands-on learning experience in these subjects, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity. In this class, students may engage in various activities, experiments, and projects related to these fields. They will learn about scientific concepts, conduct experiments, explore engineering principles, and develop technological skills. The class will also involve collaborative group work, discussions, and presentations to encourage teamwork and communication. Overall, STEM class aims to inspire students interested in these disciplines and prepare them for future academic and career opportunities in STEM fields.
     
    PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND MUSIC:

    Students will have Physical Education and ONE of the four possible music selections.  One course will be on Mondays and Wednesday, the second course will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with Fridays being alternated between the two courses.  
     
    Physical Education:

    A middle school physical education class typically focuses on promoting physical fitness and overall health. Students engage in various activities such as team sports, individual exercises, and fitness challenges. The class aims to develop fundamental movement skills, coordination, and teamwork abilities. Additionally, students learn about the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle and making healthy choices. The class is led by a qualified physical education teacher who ensures a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
     
    MUSIC SELECTIONS 

    Students will opt in to ONE of the following potential courses. 
     
    Band:

    A middle school band class is a dynamic music program that focuses on instrumental performance. Students learn to play a variety of instruments, such as flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. Through regular rehearsals and performances, students develop their musical skills, including reading sheet music, playing in harmony, and following a conductor, while also fostering teamwork and discipline.
     
    Choir:

    A middle school choir class is a vocal music program that provides students with the opportunity to develop their singing abilities and musical skills. Students learn proper vocal techniques, including breath control, pitch accuracy, and vocal range expansion. Through rehearsals and performances, students also learn to work collaboratively as a group, harmonize with others, and interpret and express emotions through their singing.

    Orchestra:

    A middle school orchestra class is a specialized music program that focuses on ensemble performance using orchestral instruments. Students learn to play instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and double bass, and develop skills in reading sheet music, playing in harmony, and following a conductor. Through regular rehearsals and performances, students gain a deeper understanding of musical techniques, teamwork, and discipline, while also fostering their passion for music. Please note that school instruments are available to borrow at no cost for the year.

    General music: 

    A middle school general music class is a foundational course that introduces students to various aspects of music. Students explore different genres, styles, and instruments, as well as develop a basic understanding of music theory and notation.? The class also emphasizes teamwork and collaboration through group projects, allowing students to develop their communication and listening skills. Overall, the middle school general music class aims to cultivate a lifelong appreciation and understanding of music in students.
